A familiar word. A tastier ending

Free things should be yum.

Freemium promised free and delivered a paywall. freemYum is a movement for the real thing: generous, honest, and actually delicious. Freemium will be freemYum, yum, yum.

The Yum Manifesto

Five rules.
Zero fine print.

A movement needs principles. Ours fit on a napkin, and none of them are behind a paywall.

  1. Free means free.

No countdown timers. No card required. If it says free, the bill is zero.

  2. Generous by default.

The good part isn't locked behind a velvet rope. Give people the cake, not just a picture of it.

  3. No sneaky stuff.

The cancel button lives where a cancel button should live. Plain words, honest buttons.

  4. Leave them hungry, not trapped.

People should come back because it was good, not because leaving was hard.

  5. Say it out loud.

Yum, yum, yum. Wordplay is a perfectly respectable form of organizing.

A cupcake wearing a pirate eyepatch and a slice of pie with a smiling face, each topped with a lit birthday candle.

Day one

It's a brand-new movement. Make a wish.

Every movement starts small: a pun, a cupcake with an eyepatch, a slice of pie with strong opinions. Blow out the candles and wish for something free that's actually good.
